Artist Statement:
“ Instantaneous accidental representation”, best describes my latest body of work, an
effort to catch-up with this tech/digital savvy society and the need for speed (instant
gratification). Post “K” catastrophe, a new direction emerged in my work incorporating
the use of; word art*, digital photography, collage, acrylic sheeting, galvanized
aluminum, recycled political yard signs, reused law exhibits, and magnetic sheeting. My
digital dumpster images are turned into commercial grade magnetic photographs, which I
affix to sheet metal boxes. An obsession with varied details on the facade of dumpsters,
occurrences one can and cannot control, create accidental instant abstract, figurative and
non-figurative narratives. In turn, giving the viewer the option of imagination and
creativity in discerning the complexity or simplicity of the image, or enjoying the
imperfect visual result of a balanced relationship between image, magnet, and metal.
Paintings:
Oil, Acrylic, mixed media on canvas stretched and un-stretched
